The National Stormwater Leadership Coalition (NSLC) is an initiative co-led by American Rivers (AR) and the National Municipal Stormwater Alliance (NMSA) that was launched in early 2026 in an effort to assemble organizations and communities interested in bringing leadership to the stormwater sector.
The mission of this NSLC is to To build a durable, cross-sector coalition that advances stormwater policies, funding systems, and implementation practices that measurably improve water quality, reduce polluted runoff, and deliver equitable, climate-resilient benefits for communities nationwide. .
This coalition is working collaboratively to explore the needs in the stormwater sector in four major areas in an effort to drive change in the sector. These areas include:
- Data, Research and Technology
- Regulatory/Policy
- Funding Policy
- Community/Municipal Needs
The NSLC will produce a national actionable agenda for stormwater and share this with the sector. Currently, the NSLC is in the early stages of its work. Updates will be shared here as they occur. The NSLC will be launched in April 2027 and intends to be an ongoing initiative to continue to provide national leadership in the stormwater sector.
